FIRST MOON CEREMONY
It is an honor to hold space for the daughters of our community with their feminine family in sacred ceremony, honoring their transition into womanhood. If ever there is a time to tightly hold your daughter's hand and offer her all the wisdom of ones who have lived before, it is at this crucial apex where powerful potentials exist. Western society has stolen and obscured the meaning and value of being a woman. Young girls and teens shouldn't be shamed for their bodies. We have a huge opportunity to guide, educate, and hold space for each other in the ways of being a woman. We can reverse the damage that was done onto us (and women in history) by paving a new way for our daughters that is filled with love, acceptance, celebration, generational healing, confidence, and positive body image.

Let's start by getting very clear on the purpose of a First Moon Ceremony. Your intentions are very important because we want you to show up for your daughter free of your own personal shame, taboos, or unresolved trauma. Why is this special for you? Why do you want to show up for your daughter in this beautiful way?
Next, allow yourself some time clarifying where you stand around the topics of womanhood. Journal ways that your family helped and hindered you when you were young. What beliefs do you want to pass on to your daughter and which ones end with you? Do not underestimate the power of vulnerability and storytelling. Your daughter will understand you on a deeper level and empower her to realize that she doesn't have to carry what you did and that she, too, can rewrite the script and do things her way. Also, keep in mind that a ceremony can happen whether or not your daughter has started her period or is actively on her period. This is treated as a rite of passage.
Then, add your daughter's vibe into the mix, afterall, this is for her. What ways would she like to honor her first period? The type of ritual you choose must resonate with her. Don't force her into a First Moon Ceremony if she would rather have a ritual at home or celebrate in some other way. Let's honor her.
